Chatper 1752

Dustin raised an eyebrow as he took in the information on the tombstone. He was surprised that the name etched on it belongedto Leo Ashen, the former Vice General of the renowned Black Dragon Army’s vanguard.

The vanguard army was composed of elite soldiers that were chosen with meticulous care. Attaining the rank of vice commanderrequired an exceptional level of prowess.

In Dustin’s recollection, Leo was renowned for his inherent strength and ferocity on the battlefield. He had a distinguished career, and had made significant contributions to Rufus’ efforts to stabilize West Lucozia.novelbin

Leo’s sacrifice resulted in a posthumous promotion, securing the position of vanguard army General-in- Chief. The grandeur ofhis funeral underscored his importance.

Leo’s descendants had enjoyed privileges and benefits. Hence, it was perplexing to witness the family in such dire straits. Thisraised the question of what had transpired.

Dustin was intrigued. He approached slowly, eager to unravel more about the situation.“Who's there?”Sensing movement, the young man at the grave turned with a wary expression.

Dustin was quick to diffuse the tension, He assured the man, “Don’t be nervous. We're here to pay respects to our loved oneslike you.”

“Pay respects?”

The young man relaxed slightly but maintained a cautious demeanor.

Dustin explained, “We heard some commotion and came to check.”

“Apologies for the emotional outburst earlier. | appreciate your understanding,” the young man said, extending an apology.“No problem at all. Emotions can be overwhelming.”

Dustin nodded.

The discussion then turned toward the tombstone.

Dustin feigned surprise.

“Wow! Isn't this the renowned General Leo Ashen’s grave? Are you, by any chance, his descendant?” 1

“I'm Lucas Ashen, and my father is Leo Ashen. Do you happen to know him?” the young man asked cautiously.Expressing genuine admiration, Dustin acknowledged, “General Leo’s accomplishments are widely recognized. His reputation isknown far and wide. Who in West Lucozia doesn’t know of him? Among the generals, he’s the one | admire the most.”While the sentiment might sound somewhat complimentary, it held complete truth. The generals of West Lucozia sacrificedgenerously for the nation, and Dustin genuinely admired that.

“My father did have a glorious past, but it’s unfortunate that he left us too soon.

Lucas sighed deeply.

“Mr. Ashen, as a descendant of General Leo, you should have rightfully enjoyed the glory associated with him. Why has it turnedout this way?” Dustin inquired.

“It's those heartless bullies!”Lucas began to curse, then seemed to hesitate as he recalled something. He chose not to elaborate.

“Mr. Ashen, | have immense respect for General Leo’s character. If you ever face any challenges, don’t hesitate to inform me. |have considerable connections in West Lucozia and should be able to offer assistance,” Dustin said.

“It's useless. Those bullies have both power and influence. Their backing is formidable. You can’t beat them. Just forget about it,”Lucas said bitterly as he shook his head.
