Chatper 1235

An Understated Dominance by Marina Vittori Chapter 1235

“Oh, my goodness! Is that Lord Xenos? What is he doing here?” “Look at his entourage. It doesn’t seem like they’re here for theengagement party.”

“Exactly! Who brings that many guards to a banquet? It’s pretty clear that trouble’s brewing.”

George’s arrival immediately caused a stir. Even the members of the Grant family couldn’t hide their uneasiness. After all,George was a viceroy. He held a great deal of power throughout the Southern province, both military and political. He was ahigh-ranking official, a truly influential figure.

In the presence of such an important person, even Tyler, a powerful general, had to exercise restraint. “Dustin, are you all right?”George asked as he came in.

“I'm fine, thank you, Lord Xenos,” Dustin replied politely.

“That’s good.” George smiled. Then, he turned to Tyler. His expression suddenly turned stern. ” Tyler, you have abused yourauthority as a third-ranking official. Do you think no one can keep you in check?”

George’s words were direct and spared no disrespect for the Grant family. “Lord Xenos, you've got this wrong. It was Dustin whocaused trouble, and we were just defending ourselves,” Kate quickly interjected.

“That’s right! It was Dustin who killed our family member. We need justice!” the Grant family members chimed in.

“Shut up, all of you!” George stared sternly at them. “Don’t think I'm unaware of what’s been happening here. The Grant familykidnapped Natasha and murdered Hector. Your actions are barbaric!”

His words instantly silenced the Grant family members. It was clear that they had no moral ground on which to stand.“Lord Xenos, | have no problem with you. Why do you stand against me like this?” Tyler’s face turned cold, his gaze hostile.

The last time he came to the Harmon residence, George had interfered and thwarted Tyler’s plans. He hadn't expected Georgeto show up and interfere again. It was just too much!

“As a Dragonmarsh general, it is your duty to uphold the law and see that justice is done. But look at your behavior; how is itdifferent from a gangster?” George spoke emphatically.

“Lord Xenos, even though your official rank is higher than mine, that doesn’t mean you can order me around,” Tyler asserted. He continued, “My position as general was bestowed upon me by the royal family and falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministryof War. Even though you are a viceroy, Lord Xenos, you have no right to meddle in my affairs.”

A viceroy held the highest position in a region. They oversaw both military and political affairs. Although their rank was high, they

were civil officials.novelbin

Tyler, on the other hand, was a military officer, and they operated under different systems. Civil officials and military officers havealways had a strained relationship. If things escalated, Tyler wouldn’t be afraid because he had powerful backing.

“Tyler, don’t be so arrogant!” George snorted coldly. “The Southern province is under my jurisdiction. If you do somethingoutrageous, I’ll not stand idly by!”

“Lord Xenos, I’ve always obeyed the law, so where do these outrageous acts come from?” Tyler asserted. He added, “Even if |were truly guilty, there is nothing you can do about me. You are only the local governor.”

As he finished, a deep, imposing voice suddenly sounded. “If Lord Xenos can’t deal with you, what about an old man like me?”

The voice wasn’t loud, but it was clearly heard by everyone. Following the sound, a group of people entered through the maingate, led by a sturdy, white-bearded old man.
