"I regret not being part of her past, but I'll be with her every step of the way in her future."

Eric was so startled he almost hit the gas instead of the brake, nearly sending the car into a ditch. He stole a glance in the rearview mirror at his usually aloof and dignified boss. It looked like lan had truly fallen head over heels.

"A guy in love is a scary thing." Eric thought.

When Matthew returned to the hospital, Wilhelmina had already been transferred out of the emergency room. The doctor assured him that her visual cortex had only sustained temporary damage and her sight would soon return.

Absently nodding to the doctor, Matthew pushed open the door and entered Wilhelmina's room. Before he stepped in, she lay still on the bed. The moment he stepped in, she became extremely agitated and clutched her face in despair.

"Matt, I can't see a damn thing! I'm really blind! Matt, I'm so scared!

"Matt, I don't want to live in darkness for the rest of my life. What's the point of living if I can't see?"

"Willa, you're not going blind. The doctor said it's just temporary. Your sight will come back soon," Matthew said wearily.

"Really? I'm not going blind? Thank God!"

Wilhelmina had already heard the doctor's prognosis, but it didn't stop her from putting on a show. Her face then filled with an almost theatrical sadness.

"Matt, I'm glad I won't be blind forever. But thinking about what happened in the garage still makes me sad.

"I admit I've done wrong by Willow in the past, but I've tried to make amends. I didn't expect her to manipulate that child to do something like this to me.

"Matt, I'm not pointing fingers at Willow. I just believe a child's innocence should be protected. Even if Willow had her own motives, she shouldn't have dragged a kid into this mess.

"Matt, please don't hold it against Willow or the kid, alright? I might be hurting, but it's not as bad as it seems,"

Despite Wilhelmina's seemingly forgiving words toward Willow, each sentence subtly indicted her. She silently hoped Matthew had already dealt with Willow and Aaron.

"Matt, did you go see Willow and Aaron? Did you lay a hand on them? Please don't hurt them. I'm begging you, Matt.

Matthew's gaze was intensé, locking onto Wilhelmina's face. After what felt like an eternity, he spoke, Willa, aren't you tired?"

Wilhelmina was taken aback. Despite considering herself sharp, she couldn't fathom why Matthew would Chapter 324

suddenly ask such a question.

Before she could voice her confusion, Matthew continued in an indifferent tone, "Willa, I did go see Willow and that cripple. I almost gouged that cripple's eyes out."

Wilhelmina's heart soared with joy. She wished Matthew had actually blinded Aaron and even Willow. Yet, she maintained her pitiful facade.

"Matt, no matter what Aaron did, he's just a kid. Please spare him this time," she pleaded.

"Willa, I didn't gouge out the boy's eyes, Matthew said, his gazem deepening with emotions that she couldn't decipher. "Because I learned the truth."
