Chapter 1006: A Desperate Reunion

After several hours of flight, Evie disembarked and exited the airport, immediately spotting Jasper's familiar figure waiting for her.

The man stood tall and straight, one hand in his pocket, looking both handsome and righteous. There was always an inexplicable aura of integrity about him. This always reminded Evie of the protagonists in old martial arts films, perhaps because her boyfriend was just too upright.

She smiled and ran towards Jasper.

Jasper saw her as well and walked briskly towards her, taking her suitcase from her hand.

"Tired?" Jasper asked, ruffling her hair. He noticed she was wearing a plaid dress today instead of her usual cute Lolita outfits, which surprised him. "Changed your style?" he asked.

Evie looked up at him with her big, round eyes sparkling like stars. "Sometimes you need a change, or else you'd get bored of seeing the same thing."

Jasper held her soft hand. "Hungry? Let's go get something to eat."

They went to a very elegant upscale restaurant.

After sitting down, Evie looked at him worriedly. "Jasper, did the boss really separate from Mr. Maskelyne?"

She was shocked when she heard the news.

"It's just temporary," Jasper said, cutting her steak and pushing it towards her. "One day, Mr. and Mrs. Maskelyne will be together again. This temporary separation is for a better future." He believed deeply in the bond between Mr. and Mrs. Maskelyne.

He handed Evie a key. "This is for a three-bedroom apartment. You can stay there for now. I just bought it. Mr. and Mrs. Maskelyne will need our support."

Evie took the key seriously. "I understand. No matter what, we can't give up."

Jasper then handed her a pink bag that looked like a gift for a girlfriend.

But it was all a disguise.

He lowered his voice. "Give this diagnosis to the lady, along with the young master's recent medications. See if she can find a way to cure his eye condition." Evie quickly put the bag away. "Got it. Don't worry."

She looked around cautiously; the president had been very suspicious of Jasper and had people secretly following him from the airport.

They were aware of the followers.

After their meal, Evie drove off in Jasper's car.

Her driving skills were exceptional; after all, anyone by Sylvia's side couldn't be incompetent.

She quickly shook off the followers and drove towards the apartment Jasper had bought.

It felt like they were in some secret underground romance. After parting ways with Evie, Jasper hailed a taxi back to the presidential palace.

The followers split into two groups to follow them both.

In the end, they lost track of both.

The president was furious.

"You useless bunch! You can't even follow a woman! What's the point of keeping you around?"Contents belong to NovelDrama.Org

The subordinates hung their heads in fear. "That woman is small but drives aggressively. We quickly lost her. I suspect she's a professional racer."

"Don't make excuses for your incompetence!" The president was livid. "Get out! Now!"

"Yes, sir..." The subordinates quickly left.

The president shouted after them, "Keep a close eye on Jasper! Don't let him pull any tricks."

The subordinates responded quickly and left in haste.

The president slammed his hand on the table, suspecting that Jasper bringing that girl over wasn't a simple matter.

What were they planning?

He couldn't fathom that Evie was Sylvia's person.

Meanwhile, Evie had arrived at the apartment and contacted Sylvia after staying there for a while.

Thirty minutes later, the doorbell rang.

Evie looked through the peephole and saw a tall woman wearing a mask and a fisherman's hat standing outside.

She wore a white shirt and blue jeans, an inconspicuous outfit.

But Evie recognized Sylvia from her familiar figure.

She immediately opened the door, and Sylvia slipped inside.

"Boss, why are you dressed so strangely?"

"Special times call for low-key disguises," Sylvia said, removing her mask and hat to reveal her stunning face.

"This is from Jasper," Evie said without wasting words. She hadn't opened the bag because it wasn't hers but Sylvia's. Sylvia opened the bag with trembling hands and saw the diagnosis and Franklin's usual medication prescriptions inside.

There was also one of Franklin's ties.

Holding the tie felt like holding Franklin's hand; his familiar scent surrounded her, making her eyes instantly red.

She closed her eyes to suppress her emotions and said hoarsely, "Thank you, both you and Jasper."

"What's there to thank? We're all on the same side, years of friendship," Evie patted her shoulder. "You and Mr. Maskelyne have really been through a lot." Franklin had previously suffered from bipolar disorder and had peculiar adoptive parents. Just as he recovered, Sylvia still had an unresolved Love Parasite issue. Now Franklin was poisoned and forced to separate from Sylvia.

Evie didn't just sympathize with Sylvia; she felt heartache for her turbulent love life.

Sylvia said nothing more and packed everything into the bag. "I might need to trouble you soon; I have to go now."

She needed to study the diagnosis and medications to find a cure for Franklin's eyes.

There was no time to waste.

Back at the Hipps family residence, she locked herself in her room to study the diagnosis.

Her room light stayed on all night.

At dawn, she finally lay down to sleep but woke up around nine in the morning to wash up quickly.

Fortunately, everyone in the Hipps family was busy with their own affairs, so no one suspected anything or had ulterior motives because she slept in.

Old Mrs. Hipps was watching TV downstairs and greeted her warmly when she came down. "Stayed up late last night? I saved breakfast for you; it's still warm! Go eat."

The warmth of family soothed Sylvia's anxious heart.

"Thank you, Grandma," she said warmly.

"Oh, don't be so polite! You're my child!" Old Mrs. Hipps smiled kindly. "Go have your breakfast."

While eating breakfast, Sylvia messaged Jasper on Facebook.

Jasper replied promptly, "This method sounds good, Missus. Don't worry; I'll handle it."

At ten in the morning, the presidential palace doctor came to check on Franklin again.

Jasper whispered to him, "Doctor, how about we try traditional medicine? How about acupuncture? Do you know it?"

The doctor was taken aback. "I don't know traditional medicine or any famous traditional physicians since it's not as prevalent as Western medicine..."

Jasper continued, "My young master's condition hasn't improved for so long, and the president has become very irritable. I think we should try traditional medicine. The most important thing is to cure him." The doctor knew very well that the president looked at him with eyes that could kill lately.

If not for his seniority and long tenure at the presidential palace, he would have been replaced already.

After thinking for a moment, he said,

"I've heard H Rovirsa's traditional medicine is quite famous with some renowned practitioners. You're from H Rovirsa; do you know anyone? Maybe you could recommend someone?"

"The president doesn't trust me much. I do know some famous doctors but let's say you introduced them. If they cure him you'll get all the credit," Jasper, observed the doctor's reaction carefully; he had long noticed how

afraid the doctor was of being

reprimanded by the president.

By suggesting this plan as if offering advice, he avoided suspicion from the doctor who quickly accepted it after some thought.

Franklin was Jasper's young master; Jasper wouldn't harm him.

If it worked out, great; if not, there was no loss for him either.

With that thought, he said, "Alright, Jasper. Thank you. You can arrange it quickly."

"Great timing one of these famous

doctors is currently abroad attending a traditional medicine confereree. I'll see if she's available this afternoon," Jasper smiled. Of she is, I'll need you to bring her over personally."

The doctor nodded in agreement. "Alright then."

At three in the afternoon,

the doctor arrived at the presidential palace with a young woman by his side.

The guards immediately stopped them. "Doctor, who is this?"

"This is my assistant," the doctor smiled. "She has been studying abroad recently and just returned."

The guards checked them for any dangerous items and let them pass without further questions.

Sylvia wore a white nurse's uniform with a blue medical mask covering her face and her dark hair tied up in a bun under a nurse's cap. Following behind the doctor, she walked towards Franklin's room with each step making her heart beat faster.

Soon... she would see him soon...

The doctor whispered as they walked, "Don't look around too much; security here is tight. Don't get mistaken for a suspicious person." He hadn't expected this famous doctor to be so young and female.
