Chapter 950

Chapter 950

"They're blind..."

"She said they're blind?"

Darnell was almost moved to tears.

Recently, he had been stepped on and humiliated by everyone, whether it was his planning or hisself-esteem.

He never expected to suddenly turn the corner. He looked at Sylvia with a surprised and almostworshipful expression. "Miss Andrews, will you... will you participate in this program?"

He tried to say some grandiose words to attract Sylvia but found himself at a loss for words.

Under Sylvia's clear and bright eyes that seemed to see through everything, he found himselfunable to speak...

All he could do was awkwardly extend an invitation.

Sylvia didn't immediately refuse. "I'll consider it. The program can be planned from now on. Do youhave a team? If not, Mr. Davila can lend you a few people. If there are any issues, Mr. Davila andyou can work together to make this program even better."

"Okay, okay! I'll start inviting some actors and singers I like tomorrow and see if they're willing toparticipate in this program." Darnell nodded eagerly; he was already very happy that Sylvia agreedto invest in the show without being unhappy about working with Brock on controlling the show.

Working with Brock wasn't bad either; Darnell thought so too.

Brock was also interested in the program, so he didn't hesitate. "Okay, Miss Andrews."

Sylvia considered for a moment before saying again. "As for detailed cooperation, we need to sign acontract first; Maskelyne Entertainment and I will both invest in it since no TV station is interested, right? Then we can broadcast it on Maskelyne Entertainment's video website or even do livebroadcasts - live broadcasting is very popular these days - we can discuss specific details later butlet's start preparing as soon as possible!"

Her ideas were very detailed; she wasn't just being perfunctory or impulsive.

Darnell immediately felt how serious Sylvia was about making this show successful.

"Thank you, Miss Andrews," Darnell said gratefully.

Sylvia smiled. "Investing means getting returns too; I believe in Mr. Davila's abilities as well as yourssince he recommended you which means that there must be something special about your skills-don't let me down."

She stood up after speaking. "I have things I need attend so I'll leave first- once all of the guestsinvited are confirmed please inform me."

"Goodbye, Miss Andrews," Darnell watched Sylvia leave, still unable to contain his excitement."Brock, Miss Andrews is so cool! You're so lucky to have worked with her twice!"

"I'm not lucky... it's fate," Brock smiled, thinking of Sylvia's mother who used to be the school doctor. He also thought of the help he gave young Sylvia years ago...

If he hadn't extended a helping hand back then, how could Sylvia repay him now?

He only reached out a hand and what she gave him in return was a brilliant life.

His son went to a prestigious elementary school and did well academically. He no longer fell intodepravity like before.novelbin

His life had undergone earth-shattering changes thanks to Sylvia's repayment.

"Let's go too," Darnell also stood up with gratitude written all over his face. "Thank you and thankMiss Andrews too."

Brock shook his head. "Seeing you is like seeing myself two years ago - anxious and worriedwithout anyone willing to lend me a hand when my life hit rock bottom. But your situation is betterthan mine."

At least he didn't lose his wife or have his reputation destroyed.

"Why talk about these sentimental things? Don't you know I love being moved?" Darnell punchedBrock on the shoulder playfully. "Tomorrow I'll try contacting Genevieve Higgins first - she appearedon my variety show before so we have some acquaintance."

He felt confident and hopeful about the future now.

Early next morning, Darnell contacted Genevieve Higgins. "Genevieve, can we meet up? My showis pretty good; I hope you can come participate in it."

Genevieve was getting her nails done by her manicurist while putting on makeup for her last scenein a modern drama that required fashionable styling.

Although this was their final scene together, she still wanted to look beautiful.

She had heard of Darnell's program which several TV stations rejected; nobody wanted to work withhim nor invest in it let alone broadcast it.

So she sneered inwardly but casually replied. "Mr. Darnell... It's not that I don't want to help butrecently my schedule has been packed with appointments."

"Genevieve, why don't you take a look at what my program is really like first? It's truly meaningful; Ithink you'll like it," Darnell tried persuading her further.

Genevieve was getting annoyed and her tone became very impolite. "Mr. Darnell, I've been prettypopular lately and even had a small breakthrough. Going on your little show won't get me anyratings, and no one will invest in it. You probably can't even afford to pay me for my time, right? Doyou need me to be this rude before you give up?"

Darnell heard her arrogant tone and felt a surge of anger inside him, but he didn't dare express it.He just felt that the world was so cold.

He hadn't had a chance to tell Genevieve that he had secured investors or how much she would bepaid when she insulted him first. He could only suppress his anger and say, "Okay then, Genevieve, you're busy."

After hanging up the phone, Genevieve's agent walked over and asked what happened.

"It's Darnell," she replied with disdain. "Is he crazy? He has no money but still wants me to go on hisshow? Am I working for free?"

Genevieve rolled her eyes.

"Good job refusing him," said her agent as usual praise for Genevieve's acting skills in theirprevious drama series where she played the supporting actress role but outshone the lead actress.

She was now a second-tier celebrity with some fans but still lacked that one big break into first-tierstatus.

She had won two Best Supporting Actress awards already but every time she took on a lead role itflopped badly leading rumors about not being able to carry such roles alone without support fromother A-listers.

This made her angry because all she needed was one opportunity to become an A-lister!

So instead of wasting time on Darnell's show which couldn't attract any investment or attention, shewent looking for bigger opportunities elsewhere while leaving Darnell behind feeling frustratedenough not having lunch until mid-afternoon when he stormed over Brock's house again asking whynobody wanted to come onto his show despite rumors about Miss Andrews investing in it!

Speaking, he began to call Sylvia. The phone was quickly answered, and he rambled on about whathad happened. After he finished, Sylvia chuckled softly, "Looks like I'll have to participate in thisprogram myself."

"What?" Darnell was stunned. He had only wanted to vent to Sylvia, but now she was agreeing tojoin personally?

"Give me the list of celebrities you invited, and I'll give you a new one. You and Mr. Davila can goinvite them together. Just say it's my idea" Sylvia said, then listed off a string of names.

Darnell quickly asked Brock for paper and pen, jotting down all the names while still on the phone."Got it, Miss Andrews. I'll go invite them right away."

He hesitated for a moment before asking, "Miss Andrews, aren't you afraid it might flop?"

Those stars were all scared of participating in a show with low popularity and ratings, yet she, theinvestor, wasn't afraid?

"Let me put it this way. How did I feel when I did "Top Idol's Trash Picking up" back then, is still howI feel now. So, flopping is not in my consideration. I only focus on doing the show to the best of my

ability, without any regrets," Sylvia's voice hit Darnell's heart like a heavy hammer. He was silent fora while before murmuring, "I want to do it without regrets too."

"Well then, you'll do great," Sylvia said before hanging up.

Franklin came out from the kitchen, took off his apron, and wiped his hands, wet from washingdishes, with a tissue. "Still about the program?"

Sylvia had already told him about preparing for the variety show, so naturally, he agreed.

"Darnell said no stars want to join, so I told him to find Honey, Terry and Jacky," Sylvia glanced atthe time, "These three will definitely join."

After all, Honey was an artist under Maskelyne Entertainment.

Franklin frowned, "Why are you involving Honey again?"

That Honey was like she'd never seen a woman in her life, always clinging to Sylvia.

Yet Sylvia seemed to be addicted to her, casting her in movies and now even wanting her in avariety show.

Annoying!
