Chapter 223

Bruno almost vomited blood upon hearing what Albert had said.

Despite his fury, he had to admit that Albert was speaking the truth.

The Grant Corporation had only one of two options now: either they could file for bankruptcy, or theycould abide by the law and clear their debt. They had no other way out of this.

At this juncture, if there was anyone who would buy the bulk of the stock that he was holding, it wouldfeel like this was a gift from the Heavens.

However, the person who could do that was none other than Madeline!

A while ago, Noah’s company wanted to buy over the stocks of the Grant Corporation, but Bruno feltthe same sentiment as he was feeling now. He felt that Noah was simply trying to profit from hismisfortune.

Fast forward to today, after everything that transpired, the corporation’s value had exponentiallyreduced.

He wanted to curse out loudly into his phone, but he had to restrain himself and face reality.

He was contemplating something for a while. After a moment of silence, he finally spoke, “Alright, I willagree to that deal. However, I need Madeline to sign the deal personally.”

After hanging up, Bruno felt a depressing feeling weighing him down.

After selling off the last of the stocks, that would signal the end of the Grant Corporation under hismanagement.

“Mr. Bruno, what happened?” Kingsley noticed that Bruno was in a bad mood, so he carefully ventured.

“Kingsley, let’s pack up. We won’t be selling this project anymore!” Bruno let out a huge sigh as hestood up.

“What? Then what is going to become of us?”

“We’re selling off the stocks. I am going to let go of the Grant Corporation!” It’s just an empty shell now,and it was riddled with debt. As long as he could hold some cash and that ungrateful girl was willing toabsorb the company from him, he would let that be!

Bruno was able to convince himself that he would be better off this way. Together with Kingsley, theypacked up the whole place and then he booked a restaurant to celebrate this good news.

After returning from the Charity Association, Madeline could not shake off her low mood. It even felt likeshe was getting crushed by her heavy emotions. She decided to ask Albert to send her to Elise’s place.

It was dinner time too. She could also have dinner with Elise.

After she unlocked the door with a password, she opened the door and saw that Elise was studyingsome food recipes while sitting on her sofa.

Thomas on the other hand was enjoying a glass of chocolate milk on a single- person sofa. He wasbusy fidgeting with his newest laptop.

When he saw Madeline appear, his eyes lit

He broke into a jog and rushed towards Madeline.

“Mommy!”

“Are you being a good boy in Auntie Elise’s house? Where’s Colt?” Madeline felt that all sorts ofnegative emotions had gone out of the window the moment she saw her precious son. She bent downto scoop him up.

As they exchanged some banter, she walked into the living room.

“Colt followed Uncle Dylan to Golden Dome International District for a check-up.”

“Maddie, come to me. Quick, tell me, did Mr. Quincy really cheat on you?”

Elise looked up from her recipes only to see Madeline’s unhappy face. She then tossed her recipesaside and ran towards her.

It was clear that she wanted to hear some juicy gossip.

Madeline hesitated when she saw Elise coming at her. She then lowered her son from his embrace.

“Thomas, you go upstairs and play by yourself first. I have to talk to Auntie Elise about something.”

Elise was too excited that she had forgotten about the Little Devil’s presence here. Elise covered hermouth hastily. She had a guilty look on her face.

Thomas turned his gaze from Madeline to Elise and nodded obediently. He then ran upstairs with histoy laptop in his arms.

In fact, he was just pretending to go upstairs.

When he reached the end of the flight of stairs, he stopped at the landing stealthily.

His douchebag dad had cheated on his mum. With such juicy gossip to listen to, there was no way hewould just go upstairs and play to pass time!

Thomas hid behind a wall and tried not to stand out at all. He wore his earphones without making anysound. That was connected to a phone that he had hidden right beneath the sofa…

At this moment in the living room, Elise was eager to hear some new gossip. She had even prepared aplate of cantaloupe slices and chocolate milk the moment she received Madeline’s message which toldher that Madeline was coming.

Elise was ready to get into the heart of things the moment she saw Madeline.

Although she was Madeline’s best friend, she didn’t hold back at cursing Noah the moment she gotwind of the cheating affair. She even stopped allowing Dylan to come to her place for dinner sinceDylan was very close to Noah.

However, after a few days of thinking about this matter, she still felt that Noah was not someone whowould cheat.

There might be some misunderstanding here.

“Maddie, quick, tell me what happened. Didn’t Mr. Quincy just give you most of his

fortune? How can he have a fiancée after that?”

“I don’t know the details. Some lady from a rich conglomerate family popped out of nowhere, and fromthe looks of it, they seemed to have already known each other.”

Madeline’s face darkened again when she revisited this incident.

When she recalled how Annalise had plastered herself all over Noah, she couldn’t push away her rage.

She wanted to hit her!

“They were acquaintances? All these years, I have never heard about any other woman other thanAngie. Could it be that he has all along been cheating behind your back while putting up a good front?Hey, this is big news. Mr. Quincy is really such a player!”

Madeline was rendered speechless by her.

However, she had a feeling that Elise might be right on the mark.

Annalise came from riches, and she was a beauty as well. They had known each other for a long time,and she was also someone who was protected and cared for by her family.

Summing up all these factors, it really felt like everything had been planned from the start!

“Maddie, how do you feel, knowing that Mr. Quincy has cheated on you? Do you feel any sort of angeror heartbreak?”

“It’s nothing out of the ordinary. I am just annoyed that I am tricked by him. Since he already has such aperfect fiancee who he has already been with for some time, why did he still come back to me? Hecould have taken away my title as Mrs, Quincy anytime he wanted during the years I was missing.”

“Don’t you even feel a tinge of jealousy?” Elise was leading her on.

Elise was the epitome of someone who would kill for good gossip!

“Why should I feel jealous? Whether he loves someone else or not is none of my

business. I am simply annoyed that I have been played a fool!” Madeline hesitated a little beforereplying stubbornly.

When she saw how close Annalise was to Noah, she indeed felt a little jealous. No matter, she wasmore annoyed, if anything.

Yes, she was just angry at him!

“Since that scumbag has taken your feelings for granted, you don’t need to only stick to him. Whatabout letting me bring you out to have some fun?”

“What do you mean?”

“Maddie, let me tell you something. There are countless handsome guys out there, and half of them arein Imperia. We should take advantage of the fact that you still hold that scumbag’s fortune and splurgea little. We should enjoy ourselves out there like we are rich ladies!”

As Elise proclaimed that, she dragged Madeline and they began to head out.

When they passed by the stairs, she didn’t forget to call Thomas, who was hiding around the corner ofa wall, out.

At this moment, Thomas was ducking behind a small box that was near the landing of the stairs.However, his butt was sticking out.

He was practically exposing himself unknowingly.

He was too adorable!

“My cute Thomas, your mom and I are heading out for groceries. Be a good boy at home!”

Thomas pretended not to hear that. As long as he stayed quiet, his mother would not find out that hewas actually eavesdropping.
