Chapter 1676

Thinking that Jared had escaped, Josephine heaved a sigh of relief but grew anxious immediately upon

seeing him return. "Jared, just go. Leave me. They won't dare kill me."

Her pleas were never going to be obeyed by Jared.

"Josephine, I'll definitely get you out of there today!"

No sooner had he spoken than he stepped forward to pry open the steel bars of the cage with brute

strength.

Before he could break them, a ray of light suddenly shot out of the ground, engulfing both Jared and

Josephine within it.

Subsequently, densely arranged runes began to appear at their feet. Emitting a radiant glow, the runes

floated into the air and began circling the two of them.

"What are these?"

Jared's brows furrowed curiously.

Not knowing what it was, he guessed that it was an arcane array.

While still baffled by the sudden appearance of the runes, both of them noticed a black hole open up

beneath their feet.

The hole contained a suction power that gradually pulled them down into it.

Shocked by what was happening, Jared desperately struggled to free himself. Nonetheless, his efforts

were futile as they continued to sink as if they were stuck in quicksand.

"Hahaha, Jared, you're such a fool. Did you really think that I was pursuing you? I left on purpose to

allow you the opportunity to save your girlfriend. Now that you have taken the bait, you and your girl will

be locked up together in the dungeon. You're nothing but a fool to think that you can actually defeat

me."

Skylar's eyes brimmed with unreserved triumph.

Despite staring daggers at Skylar, Jared was unable to free himself from the black hole no matter how

hard he tried.

Just like that, both Jared and Josephine gradually sank in.

"Why? Why were you so foolish? Now that you have gotten yourself captured, is it worth it?"

With the steel cage separating the two, Josephine reached out to gently stroke Jared's face.

"It is. Even in death, dying by your side is well worth the risk."

Jared held Josephine's hand tightly, his eyes brimming with affection.

A long time had passed since both of them had any physical contact.

The warmth they gave each other extinguished any fear that Jared had felt.

Unfortunately, the tender moment ignited the burning rage within Skylar's eyes. "Jared, I'll make sure

both of you are separated forever. Even in hell, you won't be able to see each other!"

Ignoring Skylar, Jared continued to hold Josephine's hand tightly, treasuring what might be their last

moment together.

By then, both of them were chest-deep in the hole and would soon sink into the dungeon.novelbin

All this while, Jared had been a nightmare to him, but now, the nightmare's end was nigh.

Upon regaining his senses, he saw the previously clueless Evangeline standing by Jared's side.

Although her body was within the effective area of the arcane array, she didn't sink at all.

Thereafter, she gave Jared a gentle pull and easily flung him out of the hole. Updated at

Gripped by elation, Jared frantically yelled, "Evangeline, pull my girlfriend out! Hurry!"

"Argh!" Jared roared in frustration.

This was the closest he had gotten to rescuing Josephine, and yet, failure was the result.
